♥ Typhoon “Frank”

Rains brought by typhoon Frank (international codename Fengshen) over the weekend caused floods in different parts of the country, leaving thousands of people stranded or homeless, and damaging millions of pesos worth of infrastructure. It was Sunday, about 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. when i heard the rustling of the wind through the trees just outside of my window, it wasn’t the usual calm rustle of the wind, it was more of a hurricane sound just like in a movie. It scared the hell out of me. I put on the headset to my cellphone and opted for the radio, I fell asleep fast… and then I woke up at around 6:30 a.m., Much to my surprise, The winds that i have heard earlier was more stronger than i thought, it was raining very hard and yes, whenever i would go outside, the winds almost swept me away…LITERALLY. :76: It was a total blackout around the metro and i think whole of the Philippine islands. We were included in the Public storm signal # 3. All i ever did the whole day is snuggle up to my bed, read anything from reader’s digest to magazines, my cellphone and iPod was battery empty — :80: i haven’t got anything to do at all :13:
7:00 p.m. - Me, my mom and my brother all lie down in the bed and just doing nonsense. We talked and talked and then suddenly, the electricity went back :75: We opened up the television and search for the news. We we’re surprised and devastated at the same time. Surprised because the typhoon already did a huge damage on the country, floods everywhere and some of the towns were submerged in the water, numerous people who died and families who were affected by the typhoon. The other news got us sad: MV Princess of the Stars, owned by Sulpicio Lines was capsized during the rage of Typhoon “Frank” in the country.
Rescuers were trying to reach the scene where the MV Princess of the Stars sank on Sibuyan Island, Romblon. More than 800 people were on board the ferry that sank in the Philippines, its owners said Monday, up from an original number of 747 passengers and crew. As of now, the number of survivors are still 32, including one crew member. The navy said that there are no signs of life in a passenger ferry sunk in the center of the archipelago during a typhoon. It was so weakening when i heard that… :30: another maritime tragedy had happened….why would we wait for something like that to happen before we can learn our lessons?
